A necklift is a procedure designed to remove extra fat from the neck with liposuction, and then a small incision is made under the chin. From this incision, the neck muscle (platysma) is elevated, and additional fat can be removed from under the muscle. This may correct a double chin. The muscle is then repaired using internal stitches, and then the skin incision is closed.

This procedure can work
great for the patient with an aging or heavy neck, but who has not yet developed jowls (then a facelift would be required). In fact, some have termed this procedure the “weekend facelift” because of the effect it can have to simulate a facelift.

Surgery: Necklift requires sedative anesthesia, sometimes administered by an anesthesiologist, takes appx. 1 1/2 hours, and you go home the same day. A chin strap is worn for 1 week, then at night only for a second week.

Healing time: Walking is started immediately, limited exercise starting at 1 week. Necklift patients usually have bruises located only in the neck which may last for 3-7 days.

Pain level: Surprisingly, most people experience very little pain, during your consultation, I will explain why this is true. Rank=2-3 Pain information

Risks: The scar is hidden under the chin. Low risk of bleeding. Other risks. Risk information

Costs: $5,000 to $7,000 total (depends on type of anesthesia). Cost information
